This is a high quality Giclee art print on high quality fine art paper professionally reproduced with archival inks. It features Co. Sligo's most iconic Benbulben mountain as seen from Kintogher . I painted the original in oil paints onto a Dibond aluminium panel at a clients request. I completed it in December 2021 . Its the 2nd painting in a series of 3 of Co. Sligo ,Ireland scenes.
This took a long time to paint due to the craziness of lock-downs but finally i left it, as it was, and walked away (i'm never finished really) and the omissions lend a little ambiguity to the mix I think.
Even though I would never admit to being a landscape painter I have to say i enjoy every brush stroke and I always feel the better painter for it.
To find where I would paint Benbulben from I drove around the mountain trying to find a perfect un interupted view . This isn't easily done. Finally I drove down to Kintogher near Rathcormac and there it was basically just a beach between me and the mountain.
I debated whether to paint it with or without shadows of rolling clouds, but not for long of course. Couldn't resist including those beautiful colour changes !
I hope you feel I've captured the absolute magic of Benbulben and that the painting can transport you there for a moment or two as it does for me.
